Liver cirrhosis is a chronic condition caused by the replacement of normal liver tissues by fibrous scar tissues resulting in gradual deterioration and malfunctioning of the liver. The liver is able to regenerate most of its cells when they become damaged. But with the end stage of cirrhosis, the liver loses its ability to replace the damaged cells resulting in partial blocks that interfere with the flow of blood through the liver. Ayurveda offers a highly effective treatment for liver cirrhosis. According to Ayurveda, Pitta is the major part of the liver and most liver disorders are caused due to the aggravated conditions of Pitta. Vitiated Pita dosha interferes with the production and flow of bile from the liver, which in turn affects the enzyme activities responsible for the digestion and metabolism process. This affects the complete liver function and other doshas are also hampered. When this condition is left untreated the liver cells become dry or rough resulting is complete damage and malfunctioning of the organ.
